Podere Forte Petrucci 2012

Petrucci was first produced in 2001 and is viewed by Podere Forte as the ultimate expression of their philosophy and passion. In addition to following certified Organic practices at the vineyards, they also meet the difficult to reach standards of biodynamic farming as well. As Podere Forte puts it, “the farmer at a biodynamic farm is much more than simple cultivator. He is the conductor of the symphony created by the living organism that is the farm.”

In the glass, the wine displays a bright red and purple color. Red fruit and cherry notes are balanced by floral aromas and balsamic touches. The refined structure on the palate delivers silky tannins and a clean mineral driven finish. A welcomed acidity freshens the palate nicely.

When pairing with food, look for red meat based dishes that may have a touch of tomatoes or citrus. A venison stew or orange glazed duck would be fantastic matches.

The name Petrucci is taken from the royal family that controlled the area during the Renaissance period. Through its centuries of existence, the vineyard was handed down from generation to generation and went through cycles of repair and disrepair. The most recent owner and winemaker, Pasquale Forte, fell in love with the land and through his hard work and passion was able to bring the land back to its original splendor.
