As someone who has been ordering wine online regularly (22 orders and dozens of bottles since 2022), I have long appreciated 8Wines for offering access to interesting international labels and boutique styles that aren’t always readily available locally. However, a platform's true character isn't revealed when everything goes right; it's tested when a high-value bottle arrives compromised, and that is where 8Wines falls remarkably short. Over the last few years, I’ve spent well over €3,500 with 8Wines. When you spend consistently on a platform, you expect a baseline of mutual trust, especially when purchasing premium bottles where structural integrity is everything. Unfortunately, encountering damaged or flawed bottles on two separate occasions has brought to light a rigid, customer-unfriendly claims policy. A bottle of Susana Balbo Signature Malbec arrived completely cooked and oxidized. Despite detailing the structural defects, the customer service team deflected responsibility, demanded unreasonable layers of proof, and ultimately offered reward points rather than issuing a proper refund or replacement. One year later, another bottle, this time a high-end wine - the Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon arrived leaking in the box with visible stain traces under the capsule. Upon opening, the cork failure was undeniable, and the wine showed the distinct, flat overcooked notes of premature oxidation rather than its intended opulent fruit profile. Instead of acknowledging that cork failure and transport leakage, the 8Wines’ support team engaged in gaslighting. They attempted to lecture about the "jammy profile of the Wagner family." They argued that a leaking, stained bottle with a dry cork and premature oxidation was normal. Rather than standing behind the quality of their high-end stock, 8Wines offered a standard deflection playbook: no blame accepted, no refund given, and a small allocation of reward points thrown in as an appeasement. For a loyal customer who has spent thousands on the platform, being compensated with virtual points for a cooked, expensive wine is a disappointing resolution. Final Verdict 8Wines has an attractive catalogue and smooth shipping logistics when bottles survive the trip intact. But if you gamble on buying expensive, premium bottles here, be aware that you carry all the financial risk. If a cork fails or a bottle cooks in transit, don't expect a refund, expect a corporate email trying to convince you that flawed wine is just part of the "winemaker's style," followed by a handful of reward points to close the ticket, that if you insist upon, otherwise you will be left empty handed. Moving forward, I will reserve my purchases for everyday, lower-risk bottles, and buy any high-end, premium investments strictly from physical storefronts where visual inspection and immediate returns are actually honored.

Jako někdo, kdo si pravidelně objednává víno online (22 objednávek a desítky lahví od roku 2022), již dlouho oceňuji 8Wines za to, že nabízí přístup k zajímavým mezinárodním značkám a butikovým stylům, které nejsou na místním trhu vždy snadno dostupné. Skutečná povaha platformy se však neprojeví, když vše jde hladce; prověřuje se až v momentě, kdy dorazí drahá láhev v poškozeném stavu, a právě v tomto ohledu 8Wines výrazně zaostává. Za posledních několik let jsem u 8Wines utratil well over €3,500. Když na platformě pravidelně utrácíte, očekáváte určitou míru vzájemné důvěry, zejména při nákupu prémiových lahví, u nichž je neporušenost zásadní. Bohužel, když jsem se ve dvou různých případech setkal s poškozenými nebo vadnými lahvemi, vyšla najevo neflexibilní a k zákazníkům nepřátelská politika vyřizování reklamací. Láhev vína Susana Balbo Signature Malbec dorazila zcela zkažená a zoxidovaná. Přestože jsem podrobně popsal strukturální vady, tým zákaznického servisu se zbavil odpovědnosti, požadoval nepřiměřené množství důkazů a nakonec nabídl věrnostní body namísto řádného vrácení peněz nebo výměny. O rok později dorazila další láhev, tentokrát špičkové víno – Caymus California Cabernet Sauvignon – v krabici, ze které vytékalo víno, a pod kapslí byly viditelné skvrny. Po otevření bylo zřejmé, že zátka selhala, a víno vykazovalo výrazné, ploché a „přepálené“ tóny předčasné oxidace namísto zamýšleného opulentního ovocného profilu. Místo toho, aby uznali selhání korku a únik během přepravy, se tým zákaznické podpory 8Wines pustil do manipulace. Pokoušeli se poučovat o „džemovém profilu rodiny Wagnerů“. Tvrdili, že prosakující, skvrnitá láhev se suchým korkem a předčasnou oxidací je normální. Místo toho, aby se společnost 8Wines postavila za kvalitu svého špičkového sortimentu, nabídla standardní taktiku odklonění pozornosti: nepřiznala vinu, neposkytla vrácení peněz a jako úlitbu přidala malý příděl bonusových bodů. Pro věrného zákazníka, který na této platformě utratil tisíce, je odškodnění virtuálními body za zkažené, drahé víno zklamáním. Závěrečný verdikt 8Wines má atraktivní katalog a hladkou logistiku přepravy – pokud láhve přežijí cestu neporušené. Pokud se však zde rozhodnete riskovat nákup drahých prémiových lahví, mějte na paměti, že veškeré finanční riziko nesete vy. Pokud selže korek nebo se láhev během přepravy zkazí, nečekejte vrácení peněz, ale firemní e-mail, který se vás bude snažit přesvědčit, že vadné víno je prostě součástí „stylu vinaře“, následovaný hrstkou věrnostních bodů na uzavření reklamace – a to pouze v případě, že na tom budete trvat; jinak odejdete s prázdnýma rukama. Do budoucna si své nákupy vyhradím pro běžné láhve s nižším rizikem a jakékoli špičkové prémiové investice budu nakupovat výhradně v kamenných obchodech, kde je skutečně možné provést vizuální kontrolu a okamžité vrácení zboží.

Rakouská vína

Rakousko je nejznámější svými elegantními bílými víny vyrobenými z původních odrůd hroznů z nejlepších rakouských vinařských oblastí. Víno se zde vyrábí již tisíce let. První písemné zmínky o vinařství pocházejí z římského období. Dnes je Rakousko považováno za jedno z nejlépe střežených vinařských tajemství Evropy díky velkému množství řemeslných výrobců a velkému důrazu na kvalitní vinařství.

Klíčové rakouské vinařské oblasti

Vinařská mapa Rakouska se skládá ze tří hlavních vinařských oblastí: Dolní Rakousy, Burgenland a Štýrsko. Dolní Rakousko na severovýchodě má největší plochu vinic a je známé zejména pro svá elegantní bílá a červená vína s chladným klimatem. Burgenland se nachází na východě Rakouska a je proslulý červenými víny z odrůd Blaufrankisch, Svatovavřinecké a Rulandské modré. Štýrsko je nejjižnější rakouskou vinařskou oblastí s teplejším a sušším podnebím.

Rakouské odrůdy hroznů

Nejdůležitější rakouskou odrůdou a nejlepším rakouským vínem je Gruner Veltliner, kterému se věnuje přibližně třetina rakouských vinic. Vyrábí se z něj spíše kořeněná a peprná bílá vína s tóny peckovin. Druhou nejvýznamnější rakouskou bílou odrůdou je Ryzlink rýnský, z něhož se vyrábí sladká pozdní vína Auslese a Beerenauslese a také suchá bílá vína. Přibližně 30 % rakouské produkce vína tvoří červená vína, která se běžně vyrábějí z peprných odrůd Zweigelt a kořeněných Blaufrankisch.
