Červená vína Zinfandel bývají velká a odvážná s velkým množstvím intenzivních chutí ostružin, švestek, tmavých třešní a borůvek. Vína Zinfandel mají tendenci mít mírné třísloviny, vysokou kyselost a vysoký obsah alkoholu 14-17 % ABV. Tato vína často zrají delší dobu v dubových sudech, aby se dodal lesk a plně se integroval alkohol a třísloviny. Z hroznů Zinfandel se také vyrábí sladká růžová vína známá jako White Zinfandel, která jsou oblíbená v některých částech Kalifornie.

Nejznámějším regionem pro Zinfandel je Kalifornie, kde se v podoblastech Napa Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley a Lodi vyrábí vynikající vína Zinfandel. Zinfandel se vyskytuje také v italské jižní oblasti Apulie, kde je známý pod názvem Primitivo. Výzkum ukázal, že Zinfandel je geneticky téměř identický s několika původními chorvatskými hrozny, což naznačuje, že hrozen může pocházet z této země.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
