A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Rodinný podnik Pierre Amadieu, založený v roce 1929, je díky svým vínům Gigondas v moderním stylu jedním z nejlépe střežených tajemství v Rhôně. Rodina zde pěstuje vinnou révu již po několik generací a rozšířila své pozemky ze 7 hektarů v době založení statku na dnešních přibližně 140 hektarů.

    "Le Pas de l'Aigle" neboli "Orlí průsmyk" je název nejvýše položené vinice rodiny Amadieu v apelaci Gigondas. Podmínky jsou zde ideální pro výrobu prvotřídních vín díky chladivým horským větrům a severoseverozápadní expozici, která pomáhá chránit před ostrým letním sluncem. Na pozemku se nachází stará réva Grenache a Syrah, která zde byla vysazena přibližně před 50 lety a dává drobné výnosy velmi koncentrovaného ovoce.

    Aby se ovoce dostalo do vinařství v optimální kondici, sklízí se ručně a poté se měsíc kvasí na slupkách, aby získalo dostatek syté barvy a intenzivní chuti. Mladé víno pak zraje 24 měsíců v dubových sudech, aby se plně integrovaly jednotlivé složky a zjemnily se průrazné třísloviny. Díky odvážnému chuťovému profilu a dobře vybudované struktuře je toto víno vhodné do sklepa na desetiletí nebo dvě, i když si ho můžete vychutnat i nyní spolu s bohatým dušeným hovězím masem nebo pečeným červeným masem.
