Founded in 2004 in the Cachapoal Valley by Alex and Carrie Vik, Vina Vik is considered one of Chile’s most prestigious wineries with approximately 330 hectares of vineyards, located in the foothills of the Andes. The operations are led by winemaker Cristian Vallejo who works with a specialized team to produce high-quality wines that are pure expressions of the terroir.

The Omega Carmenere is a blend of a majority of Carmenere with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon, which adds character and depth, and Syrah that completes the whole with elegance. The grapes come from Millahue in the Cachapoal Valley, from deep and well-drained soils of granite origin. Here the vines enjoy a mild Mediterranean climate, thanks to the proximity of the ocean. The finished wine rests for 18 months in French oak barrels.

This wine, with a deep and lively character, has a dense color with intense purple hues. On the nose, it reveals an exuberant and broad aromatic profile with notes of red and black fruits and spicy hints. On the palate, it is characterful, dynamic, and balanced. It has a good structure and a silky texture. It is a concentrated and mineral wine, with a strong and well-integrated acidity. Its tannins are firm and ripe and the finish is long and delicately spicy. It is extremely versatile in food pairings, but its ideal match is certainly grilled lamb.
