Roger Sabon, kterého legendární vinařský kritik Robert Parker označil za "jednoho z nejinteligentnějších vinařů v Chateauneuf-du-Pape", založil svou stejnojmennou doménu v roce 1952. První zmínky o rodině Sabonů v regionu pocházejí z roku 1540 a Rogerův otec Seraphin Sabon byl prvním, kdo pod tímto jménem stáčel víno do lahví.
Roger Sabon je díky svému výjimečnému terroir a starým vinicím z počátku 20. století uznáván jako jeden z nejlepších výrobců v této apelaci. Dnes má doména 18 hektarů v severovýchodní části Chateauneuf-du-Pape osázených jemnými vápencovými a písčitými půdami. Jejich cuvee Prestige je typickou místní směsí, která obsahuje velké množství Grenache spolu se Syrahem, Mourvedrem, Cinsaultem a malým množstvím dalších původních odrůd. Vína zrají tradičním způsobem ve starých 40hektolitrových foudrách a 600litrových demižonech.
Tento důraz na minimální vliv dubu pomáhá ukázat přirozený charakter terroir a Grenache. Ve vůni je pevné jádro tmavého ovoce, převážně zralé švestky, ostružiny a cassis, spolu s jemnými tóny pekařského koření, kůže a uzeného masa, které zůstávají na jazyku. Díky svému průraznému profilu se toto víno skvěle hodí k zemitým pokrmům ze zvěřiny, jako je zvěřina nebo bažant, nebo k ragú z divočáka podávanému s čerstvými těstovinami.

Described by legendary wine critic Robert Parker as “one of the more intellectual vignerons in Chateauneuf-du-Pape”, Roger Sabon founded his namesake domaine in 1952. Roger Sabon is recognised as one of the appellation’s finest producers thanks to their exceptional terroir and old vines dating back to the early 1900s. The wines are aged in the traditional way, in old 40 hectolitre foudres and 600 litre demi-muids. This insistence on minimal oak influence helps to showcase the natural character of the terroir and the Grenache. There’s a solid core of dark fruit, predominantly ripe plum, blackberry, and cassis, along with subtle hints of baking spice, leather, and smoked meat which linger on the tongue

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
