Pinot Noir might sound like an unusual choice of grape for a Croatian winemaker, but for the maverick Domagoj Klasiček it’s second nature. Domagoj earned his winemaking stripes while working for top Bordeaux estates like Chateau Margaux and Cheval Blanc and it was there that he realised the potential of French varietals to challenge the traditional dominance of white wines in Croatia.
Returning home after the vicious Croatian-Serbian war, Domagoj boldy began planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir in his father’s vineyards. Over the years his reds have won considerable critical acclaim internationally and convinced many fellow Croats to experiment with alternative grape varieties.
Domagoj’s Pinot Noir is a charming composition of French elegance and winemaking techniques along with distinctive minerality from the Danubian terroir. Use of large 500 litre barrels made with Slavonian and American oak help the wine to evolve without overpowering the delicate Pinot. This helps to showcase the classic Pinot aromas like red cherries and earthy, herbal notes which carry through onto the palate. The first sip reveals a silky smooth texture and gentle tannins along with distinctive hints of oregano and mint which would make this bottle the perfect partner for pasta or pizza dishes garnished with basil or lamb served with a fresh mint sauce.

overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now
