A solid wine emerging from Fattoria Nicolucci, the classic Italian family-run winery that has producing prestigious vintages since 1885 in the historically-renowned region of Predappio Alta from Romagna in Central Italy. The Vigna del Generale has been cultivated for wine grapes since the year 1000, when the local economy depended almost exclusively upon the Sangiovese varietals grown in this region. The history of the vineyard, along with the philosophy that the vines, soil and climate are to be treated as one homogenous unit, are part of the reason why this winery is considered to be a standard Sangiovese producer who largely sets the bar for the quality of production from this region.

The Predappio di Predappio Nicolucci Vigna del Generale is concentrated ruby garnet-red in color. Vivid, pure aromas of violets, ripe cherries and pomegranate. Deep, crushed mineral undertones and savory flavors of dark fruit are carried by succulent hints of cured meat and dried leather. Full, dry mouthfeel with an astute, soft tannic structure.

This wine characteristically carries a slight, fine tannic quality and is an elaborate, if austere, expression of Sangiovese. A traditional, classic yet always enchanting vintage. Aged for two years in oak barriques. Pairs well with game, hard cheeses and red meat.
