    Historie

    Castiglion del Bosco je zakládajícím členem vinařského konsorcia Brunello di Montalcino, které v roce 1967 jako jedno z prvních italských vín získalo status Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG). Castiglion del Bosco neboli opevněný hrad v lese byl postaven asi před 800 lety v typickém středověkém stylu. Na počátku 13. století rod Cacciacontiů původem ze Sieny přistavěl kolem hradu kamenné zdi pro větší bezpečnost. Hradby jsou dodnes patrné i s kamennou věží.
